Thanks Gram and Grandpa – Reupholstering Project

19 Aug

My grandma recently moved from Florida to Palm Desert, CA.  My mom was kind enough to pack up her house and ship us my grandpa’s favorite chair and couch.  I remember my grandpa sitting in this chair so vividly.  He always looked so regal and strong, and yet so happy and content.  Like he had a little secret he kept in the twinkle of his eye.  I miss him.  Anyway,  though I always loved the fabric, it was time for a makeover.  It had yellowed and just didn’t look so hot anymore.  I kept as much as I could, and plan to make something special from it.  Maybe a doll for g.  We’ll see.  In the meantime, we got the chair reupholstered in this gorgeous cream linen and the stool and pillow in pink linen with the cream for piping.  I am sooo happy with it.  It actually looks really fancy.  Definitely the fanciest piece in our house. Check it out.

I love knowing that we have a piece of my grandparents history that will last many more years to come.  The only problem is, the newness and beauty of the chair makes our couch look horrible, really tired and old.  I am currently saving up to reupholster it, though all my friends think I’m crazy to do this with a baby, dog, and baby on the way.  I don’t know.  I just don’t think I can look at this couch any longer.  Maybe we can do slip covers or something?  I love the shape and think it could look really fab with a makeover.  Any suggestions?

I love this tufted bottom cushion my cousin just emailed me from Mimi and Meg.  So chic.  Thanks Er.
